Help needed regarding recording.

Hello.

I need help to what probably is the easiest thing to solve, but I can't figure it out.
I am running MicroLogic AV 4.7 on my PC, and the problem is that it records the previously recorded audio-track onto the next audio-track, and so on.
I.e. if i record a bass on track 1, and then guitar on track 2 as I listen to track 1 as playback and reference, the bass is recorded on track 2 as well. It records only the guitar if I mute track one, but if I want to listen to the bass during recording the guitar it records the bass audio-track onto the new track.

Please help me solve this.

Are you using an audigy sound card by any chance?

No ... I use a MOTU 828mkII but I do have an older PC with a Soundblaster Live.
I can tell you that you don't want it set to "What U Hear" as the recording source in the windows mixer applet or in the Creative mixer applet.
You need to select the physical input that you are using.
