hello,

first time here, i have a tascamPorta 2 and i have a shure mike 8800. my vocals are muddy and having no treble?

i would appreciate alot any suggestions.

thank you

Im not familiar with that mic, but assuming its a decent vocal mic, a good preamp will do wonders for you....

Increasing the distance from the mic generally reduces the amount of bass boost (if it's a directional mic) at the expense of more stray ambient sound. That can effectively brighten your tone.
peace

many people usually roll of the bass when micing really close. Its regular practice.

nr?

What kind of noise reduction does your Porta2 have; do you use it? It could be coloring (ie ruining) the sound. On my Yamaha MT the DBX nr kills some of the high end along with the tape hiss.

thank you all for your reply, you helped alot with the recording. my solution was to distance my self from the mike further when i recorded. your advise really helped me alot.
