acoustic sound clip, need advice

Today I got a CAD Trion 8000 tube mic. I was really excited to use it and hear a major difference from my MXL 990, but wasn't impressed. What can I do in adobe audition to get a similar sound to www.myspace.com/chasecoy - song "Take Me Away" (3rd from bottom)

I'm going to be doing similar style, just acoustic and vocal. I don't understand the compresson (dynamics) in Adobe Audition - http://images.digitalmedianet.com/2007/Week_25/0ra7bf9i/story/audition compressor.jpg

and the EQ (for those who dont know) looks like this in the prog - http://images.digitalmedianet.com/2006/Week_5/0khghhf4/story/new_eq550.jpg

here is a RAW RECORDING of the quality I get before mixing -

I run my CAD Trion 8000 tube mic to my M-Audio MobilePre straight to my computer, I know about mic placement, and adding delay and panning and whatnot, so with that said...

please help me, because I am on the verge of giving up and selling my recording equipment... :(

If you're not enjoying it, take a break for awhile. Don't sell out. It takes years to get a professional sound. Think little steps...

To get a similar sound, treat the room you are playing in, fix the timing (practice and retrack),add a bass and a cello and some vocals.

Record dry, EQ, pan and mix. Then EQ some more and compress if needed. Play with the settings to get used to how they effect your sound and then set them to how it sounds best to you. You cannot tell how it sounds by looking at it.

Personally, I think your 'RAW' track acoustic sound, sounds much better than that 'Chasecoy' guy.

Yours just sounds a bit 'warmer' and more heartfelt to me than his did. His sounded very 'typical' & polished. But that's just my opinion.

- and by the way, what's up with 4-5 of his songs sounding like they're being played in drastic 'slow-motion'?

(I didn't 'get it'.)
