Im a guitar player, and I use CWPA8, as well as Guitar Studio 1.02. I want some synth sounds, and bass lines and stuff that I know if I had a midi keyboard, I could do. BUT, without a keyboard, How and waht do I need to get the synth stuff???

Not sure if this is what you're asking, but if you simply need midi just set up a midi track in CW PA8. Then go to staff view and you can write the bass line in staff notation.

I'm not sure about CW PA8, but CW PA9 even includes a fretboard view where you can actually place the notes on a guitar fretboard and it will write the notation for you.

Then select the midi instrument you want to play the track.

(I'm assuming, btw, that your soundcard supports midi. If not, you can pick up an SB Value card for about $50.00 that will do it.)

The simplest thing is to use the MIDI synth on a typical soundcard. Then you don't need any cables or interfaces or external gear (except of course for the audio output of the soundcard). It will sound less than stellar unless perhaps it's a SB Live or a Turtle Beach Montego II that you can load up with better-than-average downloadable sound sets.

These sound cards and their ilk also typically have a MIDI interface (though often you have to buy the "optional" adapter cable to actually be able to hook MIDI cables up to it), so you can also use external sound modules.

Of course without a keyboard you are limited to entering your notes manually or getting MIDI files generated another way.

thanx

You guys rock....
