help me with buying new stuff

alright so my friend and I are building a home recording studio within the next few weeks. We're looking to start off with just a digital setup. We want to get this within the next two weeks
-Presonus Firepod
-monitors (looking at Event TR8)
-Beyerdynamic drum mic package (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/OpusDrumPkSE/)
-EMachines computer (keyboard mouse monitor all that)
-studio desk (with rack placement)
-Phantom Power (how much I dont know, depends on the drum mics I believe?)
-Microphone cables

We already have everything else necassary
-SM57
-SM58
-SM58 Beta
-Senheiser Vocal Mic
-microphone stands
-2 Tama Starclassic kits
-Zildjian AAX cymbals all around (lots of em!)
-2 Gibson SG Specials
-2 Marshall AVT 150H
-2 Marshall 1960 Cabinets
-Ernie Ball Music Man SUB Bass
-Hartke Bass stack

Is there anything else important that I am missing or need. Am I messing up my calculations. I understand I'm missing a very important piece, the vocal condensor mic, but we're saving up and waiting for the AKG C414, we should have that by June. What do you guys think? What would you buy? Will this stuff sound good together?

does the Emachine HD spin at 7200 rpm?
It's pretty important...

$1200 for mics...seems like a bundle to me man....hope they work for you...
The Firepod already has phantom power for condensors...8 to be exact....
don't skimp on the cables....buy good ones....

do you already have recording softgware?
You will need to buy that....pretty expensive these days...
There are sharewares and freeware out there though....

I agree...get spankin good cables - it'll be worth it. Also, I wouldn't get that drum mic kit - I'd get individual mics...a Beyer M201 for snare, an EV RE20 or AKG D112 for kick, a pair of LDC's like the AT4033's or 4040's for overheads OR a good pair of SDC's like the Oktava MK012's...

I'd also look at getting a really good DI box like the JDI from Radial. and if you're serious about you're guitar tone I'd use more than just one 57... look at the Senn e609, the Beyer M201, the Senn MD421, and then use the LDC's and SDC's to help out in distance...

well i heard that you use the overheads with the sm57 and the condensor mic on the guitar cab, three mics for that. and you put one behind the cab and put it 180 degrees out of phase? I'm not completely thats why I need help, but that mic set isnt good? I would have thought it was.

It's no that that set isn't good, it's just not always the best route...it might be for you, but I doubt it.

I think that you should get cost effective here, seeing as you're starting out. Instead of spending lots on those mics, which aren't the best bang-for-buck option, spend a little on the other important things like a headphone amp, a wider selection in your mic locker, room treatment, good monitors, a regular desk will do and you can buy a gator rack...spend some time researching and you'll be fine.

And where would you be putting all this gear. In your backyard. I guess you missed out one of the important things. Room treatment. . . I like you, spent a lot $$$ on gear but never gave a though about the room that I was going to record in. . . and spended more $$$ that I need too. . .

get your room's treated first and then buy gear as you need them . . You'll be very pleased with that investment first. . . Good monitors and well treated rooms make recording more enjoyable.

I'll second that in a big way. I spent a lot of money on gear before I realized my tracking and mixes will always be subject to the environment they are surrounded by. Even the best monitors cannot help a mix done in an acoustically inferior space.
