So I have an Ensoniq ASR 10 fully expanded and maxed, with two zips and a cd drive. I have my PC with Adobe Audition and Reason software. What would you all recomend my next purchase be under $1000? Im thinking about an Mbox w/ Protools, or even an MPC 1000/2000xl, or a package from sweetwater with mics, mixer, etc.... Any imput would be greatly appreciated! :)

I'd go for the mics. You don't really need the Pro tools if you have audition (even though the M-box would be nice). But get the mics...

Just my 2 cents.

i have a paypal account. you could paypal me the money and i could buy some monitors, maybe 2 or 3 sets, and then i could send you the ones i like least.

deal?

I live in California, does that matter? Anyways- I'm using some 3-way Sony desktops, not the best but they get good-enuf sound. I would rather get something like a drum machine to further progress my sounds. Im leaning towards the MPC, since I do already have Audition.

He was joking! He was going to come and help you spend your money! You will have to get used to his sense of humor if you spend any time here.

I think you have a good handle on what you want. Think about what you want to accomplish and work toward that end. And read lots. There is so much information just on this board that is useful.

Good luck!

Thanks for the positive reply. I've been doing a lot of research since my first post (um...3 hours ago, lol) and I've decided I'm going with either the MPC 1000 or the Roland MC 909. Basically, my ASR 10 has all the effects and sounds I need, but I need better quantization and a better drum machine. The additional sequencer would be a plus too... Monitors and mics I've decided are a bit further down the line, as I'm tryin to concentrate on my beats. Thanks for the help. Ill be doing lots of research here so, I'll see yall around!

Well, monitors ARE requirement #1, really. But if you have a really good home stereo system you can get by for a while.

But, of course $1000 doesn't stretch to both monitors and an MPC; so it's not an easy choice. The MPC is more fun.
