So, I have an opportunity on a few good mic deals, but insufficient funds for all of them. They are as follows: audio technica 4041 pair for $250, sennheiser md441 for $250, or sennheiser 421 for $150. My current mic collection is: akg 414, akg d112, audio technica 2021 pair (which I would replace with the 4041 pair if I went in that direction), and 2 sm57s. I'm mostly curious as to what you all think would make the most sense for me based on what I have, assuming I can only afford one of the options. Thanks!
Totally agree.....if the 441 is in good shape....$250 is a great price.
Used in good shape they sell for around $400-$500.
Is it the silver/black or all-black model...and does it have the 5-position EQ selector at the base?
If you also get the holder and case with it....drop the money on the table, grab the mic and run.
Of course....you should test it before buying if possible...or at least have the option to return if not working.
If you get weird dull sounds....it's got issues. Test it at all the EQ positions. There should be minor tone changes, but the mic should sound clear and nice level. Any obvious level drops or real muffled/dull sounds at any position...it's got issues.
Otherwise when working as it should...they are really great dynamic mics, top-shelf stuff!
