Help me make this decision please!

A guy i know is selling some of his gear. He has only used it a few times so ill assume everything is in fine condition.

I don't have a dedicated recording computer yet, but im going to run run windows xp with 4 gigs of ram.

He is going to throw in Sonar Studio 7 so for now, that will be my DAW

This is what he's selling:

-x4 Rane DMS 22 (http://www.sixstardj.com/radms22dumis.html)
He is also going to throw in a bunch of random Magomi cables.

Just glancing at it, it seems like a fair deal, but i am still learning so i thought id ask for some advice.

He wants 1150 total

Maybe there is an interface brand new i can get with pre's of similar quality, so that it can be an all-in-one unit? I know different interfaces are out there...but i'm not sure of the quality of the pres in comparison to the ones listed above. Let me know if theres anything i forgot to mention and thanks in advance for your responses!

It is too much money. Look on e bay you can find really good deals there

i'm considering just taking a couple DSM-22's off his hands and looking for a different interface. He got real good deals on them, so I think he'll cut me a sweet price for those.
 
is that 4 dsm 22s if so it might not be a bad deal

oh no problem, yep its 4 of them, 2 channels each so id be set to record my drum kit
 
That's a good number of fairly decent signal paths at a very good price... If I were starting out I'd jump all over it...

Yeah definately a good deal on really decent quality stuff.
The fact it has adat I/O opens the door for future expansion too.

If the Rane pres are anything like their past offerings you will be happy.
