Howdy guys!

Sorry I havent been around much, been a busy boy. I missed the tender loving and the sweet hugs I get here.:o

OK, I can't record in stereo, and it is driving me nuts. I know how to arm, all that junk. I am using Sonar 1.

Methinks the problem is my mixer, Spirit Folio F1. Does anyone have one? I am frightened, hold me:(

Here's the deal:

My mixer has a bunch of outputs. The Main outputs are going to my amp. I have "monitor" outputs going to my Darla24 soundcard. I used to have my aux sends 1 and 2 going to my soundcard. Is this good?

Also, I have a bunch of buttons, it is very confusing to me. Post-fader, pre-fader, AFL, 2TK to mix, Mix/2TK, etc.

Can somebody help me? I will see if I can find I diagram of the mixer on the net, and maybe one of you experts can help a poor moron like yours truly.

Hi Fiddle Mate... :)
Lemme give ya a hug...

First, about the Stereo recording, I'm not familiar with you card, but I strongly believe it can handle the task. My concern is how do you set the mixer (how do you route it to soundcard). Sending one channel thru Aux 1 & 2 *doesn't* mean you send the signal L & R. If you have rather "small" mixer (like most of us) then you'll probably want to use 2 channels on the mixer, and pan them hard left and hard right.

eg.
Chan 1 --> Pan L --> Aux 1 (close the Aux 2 send)
Chan 2 --> Pan R --> Aux 2 (close the Aux 1 send)

Route aux 1 to soundcard's L Line in, and aux 2 to R.

General Hints:
Pre fadder --> The signal will be sent to the aux *before* the channels fadder. Thus, adjusting the fadder (volume) won't affect the signal being sent to the aux.

Post fadder --> The signal will be sent to the aux *after* the channels fadder. Thus, adjusting the fadder (volume) will affect the signal being sent to the aux.

AFL --> Ugh, I'm not sure, but PFL sometimes means "Solo" the channel.

2TK to Mix --> sending the signal recieved from "2 Track" input (usualy from cassete track / CD to main out.

Hope it helps, Dave...

Yes, I have a Soundcraft Spirit Folio F1. :)

I would use James method only if I was recording two tracks. If you're mixing the 16 inputs together before it enters the machine, I would use the the Monitor outputs.

And
PFL means Pre Fader Level meaning you'll see the fader(s) with PFL selected in the meter.
AFL is After Fader Level and works like above...

:)

Hooray!

Thanx guys, I am getting it now!

Woohoo!

I think I know how this stupid mixer works, at least kinda sorta. I can record in stereo now.

My main Synth ( Roland JV 1010) has a really low output, so I have to mess with gain and noise, but I am getting there.

Thanx Guys, group hugs are on me!!!!!!!!!!:cool: :D :cool: :D :cool:

We're just gonna sit down and wait for the next time you need to re-connect everything... ;)

I aint done yet, amigo.:D I still have to figure out the aux stuff, and the best way to hook up my Alesis Quadraverb ( Or better yet, I have to figure out if it is even worth it to hook up a Quadraverb.)

Auxes are very easy:
Pre fader: The Aux Send Level is independant of the Channel Volume
Post fader: The Aux Send Level is dependant of the Channel Volume

I think the aux sends are mono and the returns are stereo.
