Alright...I own a turntable, a crappy karaoke machine, one crate gx-15 guitar amp, one microphone, and two mike stands. I have a room big enough to set a guitar amp in or to stand in to record vocals. I am planning on buying a four or eight track in the future. I'm running on a budget, so I need to know what else I need to buy to create a decent sounding demo. Keep in mind I am on a VERY tight budget.

Depending on your mics the only good stuff you have to start with is the mic stands. Sounds like you need a recorder at least. What is your budget for the whole setup? Are you going to be recording drums?

Well, I'm on a budget of about 300 or so dollars, but the money comes in very slow, so I want to be able to record decently with the least amount of money in the shortest amount of time. I plan on recording drums. I plan on buying a Fostex X12 4-track personal studio, an MXL V63M studio microphone, Behringer vx200 vocal processor for a mike preamp OR a DBX Minipre Mic preamp. As far as mixer boards go I now have an old peavey 8 channel mixer, and a home-made pop shield made out of a coat hanger and some panty hose (lol). But this is what I have so far. What else do I need, and what am I going to hook into what, and what else do I need to buy???

I dont know what kind of karaoke machine you have or the inputs/outputs it has. But, look in the back of the thing and find a proper cable to hook it up to the back of your soundcard.

the cheap way to go would be:

For TurnTable
1) Hook up your turntable to your karaoke machine.

2) buy whatever cable/adaptor so that you can hook ur your karaoke machine to your soundcard. Buy a Y cable if you have to.

3) Buy some cheap sequencing software (I think there is a cheap ACID out there for $30 or so)

For vocal

1)Use whatever mic you got, plug it into your karaoke machine, and to soundcard.

This shouldn't cost you more than $100. And if you want to get fancier, get a Shure 57 mic for vocal/micing the amp if you play guitar. But, I wouldn't mic the amp for turntable. Since your soundcard probably has just 1 input, you can upgrade your soundcard so that it can record 2 tracks at once (stereo) so you can have both of the left and right channels from your turntable recorded.
