I am in a alternitive rock band and we want to start recording songs and Burning them to give out and i dont no were to start at all. I looked up some information but its all greek to me. lol I am on a very tight budget. Please can someone give me advice on the road to go!!

Is it just software you need? You already have mics and everything?

http://www.reaper.fm - Reaper is a very good program with more features than even the really expensive ones. It's $40 for a personal license, but you can use it as long as you want, fully-functional until you decide you want to buy it. It just pops up a "buy me" screen for about 5 seconds, once every 24 hours or so.

Audacity is a free one, it's probably the most basic multi-track software out there, so you may want to start with it until you get more familiar with recording and need more features.

There are so many more out there. But I would personally recommend those 2 over the others. A search for "DAW" on Google will get you a lot of results...

Thanks...No we don't have mic thats another issue any advice on that?

Do some Googling and READ,READ,READ.I know this sounds boring, but all the equipment and software in the world will do you absolutely no good until you know how to use them.I've owned a lot of gear for years but only now am I getting the hang of it.
You may want to consider just hiring someone to record you if you don't have the dedication or time to learn.

You need to be more specific in your questions also.Do you plan on recording the whole band at once or seperately?
How many members/pieces in the band?
What's your budget?
