Hello... I'm really at my wits end here. I have tried so many congifurations of my hardware and software and read so many threads but nothing seems to help.

I am getting A LOT of gapping (gaps/clicks/stutters) whenever I play back a recording in any recording software I use other than Microsoft's Sound Recorder. I thought this was strange and can't find any posts out there specifically stating this symptom.

I am working with...
1 Ghrtz processing and 1 Gig RAM
onboard PCI sound

Same recording issues in Acid 6.0 and Audacity

Thank you for any help!

With onboard sound, we're often advised to download ASIO4ALL and adjust the buffer settings. Hope this helps.

The Doctor is likely correct here. Though, working with minimum requirements for any DAW, is asking for issues. If you are able to add more RAM to your system, it will likely help.

What is the OS you are running?

I agree. 1 GB of RAM isn't considered very much these days. Not in a modern system. But then, people were running PCs with much less than that for, I suppose, a couple of decades of musical recording... though I suppose most of today's software makes bigger demands on the system.

Yeah, but the software back then, didn't require so much, to run itself. Audacity is one of the lesser needy recording programs, and depending on the OS, recommends more than 1GB of ram as a minimum requirement. 4GB recommended with W8. Even a simple program like Audacity, needs resources to function.

IME, even double the minimum requirements, can lead to trouble, with less than desirable soundcard, setup, and proper delegation of system resources.

The OS/PC the OP is using, will help to find the best options.
