Okay so as reccomended I'm messing around with the free versions of Fruityloops and Reason (about to get Acid free version too).

Reason seems to be working great thus far but whenever I try to play any of the preset songs in Fruityloops 3, it doesn't sound good. There's a lot of loud crackling sounds that start a few seconds after I click on Play and they seem to get worse (louder and longer) the more I let the song play...

What the hell is going on here?

For the record I have a desktop PC with a 1.10 GHZ AMD duron processor and 120 MB of RAM.

Can anyone help? Please?

Did you have reason open at the same time?

Whenever I have both Fruityloops open and Sonar XL 2.x
when I play fruityloops there is a crackling sound.
So I have to close Sonar and run fruityloops by it's self.

other than that, I don't know.

Increase your buffers in FL.

Options - > Audio Settings

Do this until the underruns stop increasing. The example on the screen is a crappy laptop soundcard. You should be able to run about 20-30ms on a good soundcard.

I tried Rustyfingers suggestion with the buffer and it helped a LITTLE bit. Now the song wil play great for a few seconds and then it starts crackling again... but I notice the comp on the whole also slows down...

Is that because I need a better soundcard? or just cause I was running my dial up internet conection, Internet Explorer and MSN Messenger along with FruityLoops?
