Help capturing this sound

You can look the songs up on youtube, this is my first time here so apparently I'm not allowed to post url's. Anyway, the songs are,

and
Viletones - Screaming Fist

I am not trying to get this EXACT sound but I do really like the old punk sound that this gives off. These songs I particularly like. I know you can say slap a few mics in a room and go but it really doesnt seem to be that easy. I want to do it live but maybe not. I got a bunch of dynamic mics and a few tape decks to record onto a mackie cfx16 mixer, a yamaha stereo mixer, and a presonus mp20 mic pre. and an 8 input interface to mix to computer. How many mics might have been used for this recording? what positions? what kinds? any help would be much appreciated.
 
Like most lo-fi-ish punk bands did, record it live but mic everyone. Not necessarily mics in a room, but record the band as a band while having the kit mic'd, the amps mic'd, and overdub the vocals after-the-fact. Things like the amps bleeding into the drum mics and the drums bleeding into the amp mics will help achieve that kind of garage sound.
 
Thanks for the tip. That's sorta what I had in mind. Playing it live with 57's on overhead and snare and a cheap kick drum mic on the kick. sending my drum submix to an old sears stereo reel machine. and micing my guitar cab about a foot away putting it on 2 submixes so i can put the guitar on two different cassette decks for 2 slightly different tones. and maybe putting random 58's around the room for room ambience.. just a thought.

I also dont know if i should play full blast volume while recording. marshall jcm900 combo 100W. I usually play it around 7 or 8 when practicing
