Help: Can't Monitor In Cubase LE

Hello all. My bandmate just picked up a Lexicon Omega with Cubase LE. Got everything set up fine, the computer and Cubase are receiving a signal, but I can only hear the Cubase LE metronome click through the monitor speakers and nothing else.

The meters are reading like it's receiving a signal, the master fader is receiving a signal, but I'm not hearing any output(just the metronome).

I know for a fact that it IS recording, because it shows a waveform after recording. Also, I imported the track we recorded into a Reason sampler and it plays back fine in Reason. We've got the "Monitor Enable" button pressed on the track on which we're recording.

I've gone through the manual(PDF) and tried everything it suggested, but no improvement. I'm going to download updated soundcard drivers tonight, if any.

System Specs:

P3, 700 Mhz, 256 Mb Ram(these meet the minimum requirements)
We plan to ugrade the RAM soon.
Windows XP
SB Live! Soundcard
We plan to replace the soundcard soon.

The Lexico Omega is an 8 input USB interface. We're monitoring from the soundcard out to a home stereo system for now. All sounds are working in other programs, but the only sound we can hear in Cubase LE is the metronome.

I feel like we're so close and there's some option hidden deep in the program that I just haven't seen yet. Anyone have any ideas?

Is this not the same thing? I've tried it with the "Monitor Enabled" button on and off.

Oh, and there's no sound during recording or playback.
 
it looks like you haven't configured the software properly. check your i/o routing.
 
I made a little headway tonight. I changed the ASIO driver in the "Device Setup" so now I was getting a .wav that I imported to play back, but then it cut off the input signal...argh.

3 ASIO drivers are listed in Device Setup.

SB Live! Platinum

USB Lexicon

The manual had said to use the USB Lexicon ASIO drivers, which is when I was hearing only the metronome, but nothing else during record or playback.

I changed it to SB Live's ASIO drivers and that's when I heard playback, but couldn't get any input. (Also the metronome sound changed).

The Windows Multimedia ASIO drivers didn't do anything. No sound.

So I get the feeling I need to use USB Lexicon for the input driver(or whatever it's called) and SB Live for the output, but I can't seem to find any option to assign separate drivers for input and output.
 
ok, I got it running. there was another menu after I thought I had chosen the right settings. I had to choose them again :rolleyes:

now I just have GOBS of latency. I'm fairly certain this is due to 256 MB RAM and the SB Live! Platinum.
 
yup that'll be it, get your self a decent soundcard and some ram. you could pick up something reasonable for under £100
