Before I start I'm in Australia which is why i have this problem (damn Americans and you're cheaply priced guitars :D)
Okay heres my story:
I've been thinking about getting a telecaster at the end of the year and might be able to get my hands on an extra $1000 (good old work cover) some of which i hope to put towards a new guitar. With this extra cash I can now look at getting a 52 reissue (its been my dream tele for a while). I could go ebay but I'm left handed so the chances of finding even one are fairly slim. I emailed my local guitar store who are generaly fairly good and they offered me (at reduced cost) $3500 (about $2675 US) which is just too far out of my budget.
Now i was looking on Musicians friend and they have them for $1260 and postage to Australia via USPS should only be around $190 2-3 days delivery with insurance. But ofcouse Musician's friend dont deliver outside the US, and neither to any of the American guitar shops I can find on the net.
Firstly if anyone knows a US guitar shop that has Left handed 52 reissue telecasters for around that price who deliver internationaly let me know.
If not my other option (which hopefuly someone out there will go for) is to get one of you lovely people to buy one for me. What I'd do is find out exactly how much it would cost, including postage, and send a cheque (or check) to that person, plus $150 for thier troubles and get them to buy it for me and send it over. I know it might be too much responisiblity and too much bother to worry about but I' be extremely greatful if someone could help me out. Im not planning on buying to the end of the year so theres plennty of time. Obviously I'd want someone i can trust so if i can find someone who you guys can reccoment that'd be great. Also id prefer to get a contact from that person saying that they would follow through and not keep the money. If someone does decide to help me they wouldnt have to worry about me holding up my end because they wouldnt have to put in the order until they had received my money. If you need i can give you a reference of someone who's sold me a guitar from the US.
Please let me know if you're interested in helping out a poor Uni students, or if you think the ideas just plain stupid :)
Cheers

Fender do not allow stores to send thier products overseas! Why would they do this? Seems this means i cant buy one directly from a US guitar store

Hey CA,

Most manufacturers protect their o/seas distributors by these restrictions, even down to buying accesories and replacement parts. It's just a fact we have to live with.

If you wish, I can ask some of my contacts over there, if they have any ideas or can help..........we have only purchased s/hand from them but you never know.........just let me know if you want me to ask around.

If this all falls together for you, I would strongly suggest shipping through DHL.........it usually costs around $175-200US, also allow at least $300 for the import duties and GST (plus shipping in Aust).

BTW, you better tell me EXACTLY what you want if I have to check my sources.

I just want confirmation that whoever im dealing with is trustworth. From my dealings on this forum I'd be fairly certian that you could be trusted as you seem very helpfull trustworthy.

Well I wouldn't deal with anyone o/seas if I wasn't pretty sure of their honesty.........that said I still cover my (or my son's butt) as far as maintaining control of funds once they are o/seas. We brought in 8 Gibsons and a PRS a couple of months back without any problems and I'll let you guess what kind of $ were involved with that.

CA,

I have one acquaintance o/seas who may be prepared to help out if you don't come up with another solution.........it mightn't hurt if you checked with Music123 to see if they will ship across to Canada although that would involve additional import duties, anyways, there are a couple of possibilities within this.

Well ive got until the ned of the year until i actuly plan on buying the guitar so ive got a bit of time to figure it all out

Yo Coldash. If you are looking for a volunteer, you have one. You can skip the $150, all I want is whatever it costs me to do it. For general trustworthyness, PM or email Freshmattyp. I did a similar service for him on some Oktavas (less money, though). Of course, I'll pick up any axe you want, but unless you go up to the custom shop level, I doubt the 52 reissue is much better than a Highway One. That's up to you, though. I can check it for buzzes and obvious flaws, but I can't really play it, until I become left handed.. When you get serious, send me an email or a PM.-Richie

I'll vouch for Richard. He bought 2 Oktava's from his local GC for me, then shipped them. I believe he even lost about $1 on the deal.

You should also buy his CD ;)

Well, if your heart is set on a tele, I, for one, will not try to talk you out of it. I own a highway one tele myself, which I am very happy with. It doesn't appear to be made in a left hand version though, you are right. You can get the American tele and 52 and 72 reissues in LH, though. I happen to live 5 minutes from one of the biggest Guitar Centers on the East coast, so there is actually a small chance I could find your axe in stock. If I do, watch me reduce the price. (I have a bit of pull at GC). If not, I'll have to pay the basic $1200 or so on line price. Let me know when you are ready to part with the $$. Then we'll talk about cases, insurance, etc.
And be forewarned- I won't take your $150, but I will hound you to the ends of Queensland until you buy my album!-Richie

Well for all the help you'll be giving me i think buying an album is the least i can do.
Well nothing is the least i can do, but i wnot do that :)
