i just got a audiophile 2496 and i cant hear my music at the same time i record a new track. does that mean the card is only half duplex?

The audiophile is most definitly full duplex. You have somthing set wrong, look through your sound card software settings and more importantly the settings of your recoding software. Also check to make sure your signal train isn't broken.

yeah, i was pretty sure it was full duplex. i can get it to record fine, and play fine, i just can hear both at the same time. its one or the other. the beat, or the guitar. i have to pick. it shouldnt be like this? right?

I don't know what software you're using but I can tell you something when recording using computers:

You must go in the 'Volume Control' (Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume Control), go to properties and change to 'Recording'. Click on apply and then select 'Line In'.

On my computer I must do that before each recording session.

hey

the thing is with the audiophil it disables the normal volume control mixer. audiophile has its own mixer/device manager settings panel.
