Hmm hi guys, I want to build my own home recording studio for hobby purposes.
It seems like every question I have google leads me to this site, so I decided to register :D

Thing is, I'm trying to buy a soundcard for my PC to record my guitars via direct input.
Basically Guitar > Soundcard > Computer. And then use Amplitube and all that stuff and experiment a little from there.

Thing is, I don't really know what I need in a soundcard because I'm a noob and all these salespersons are telling me all this info, so I'm afraid I'll be a victim to big long words and end up buying something crappy.

So if any of you have any suggestions as to what I should buy, please help :(
I DO NOT have a Firewire input in my PC, only USB & it's a very powerful computer so it can record.

Hope I'll become an active member on this forum and someday maybe even help some people.
Thank you SO MUCH in advance.

I would get the zoom h4n. I think its a guitarist best friend. It has everything you can possibly need. You can use it as a portable 4 track recorder. It has a metronome, tuner, and amp emulators. And it has a usb cable so you can either interface it with your comp, or access its storage. Not to Mention the great mics on it, and the 2 xlr/trs inputs on it. I have one, im not a guitarist, although its my favorite piece of gear. :)

Thanks for the quick reply ^^
Here's the thing, I'm not entirely sure they sell these in Israel (where I live).
I've made a list of soundcards we have available here:

Behringer BCF2000
Behringer FCA202
Presonus FireStudio Mobile
Lexicon Alpha
Lexicon Omega
Lexicon Lambda
Lexicon I•ONIX U22S
Presonus Inspire 1394
DJ iO

Out of everything I can afford, this is pretty much it.

EDIT: I found a Zoom H4n for sale, but it's just too expensive. :(

sure they do go to kle zemer hahaha ebay it and have someone bring it up...

oh I have a delta 66 i dont use anymore. If your comp has a extra pci slot it will work well for you. Its in perfect condition. Ill sell it to you for 400 shek :)

Wow you're from israel? who knew? :D
Is it good? Will I be able to record with low latency? Does it support both Audition and Cubase?
Another thing, if I agree to come and take it, could you connect it and show me how everything works?
I would be more than greatful :)

Yeah it can run on it all. I used it with adobe audition. Im sure cubase would work fine with it. What kind of comp do you have? And I could set it up, and show you the ropes. Im in rbs.

I have an Intel Core i5 CPU 2.80GHz with 3 gigs of RAM, 32bit running windows 7.
It's very powerful ;D
So sure, just pick a date (I'm free until sunday and then from the 18th to the 22nd) and I'll buy it from you.

I live in Ashdod. But I'd rather if I came to you.
See it all plugged in and done and stuff.

I dont have it plugged it in anymore since im using a mac with no pci, thats why i dont use it. Its in its box now.

There's a problem with my PCI because the computer is still under a warranty and I don't want to ruin it.
That's what I wanted you to put it on your PC if you had one.
Is there a way to get it working without installing a board on my pc?

not exactly, I dont think it will void the warranty if you slip in another pci card...
