Help a NOO-B out please!!!

What up yall. Ok i just got an aphex preamp which i am running into my audiophile 24/96 soundcard. I got a y cable from radio shack with one male 1/4" and two male rca's, thinking this would work. But when i hooked it up and connected my rode nt1 im only getting recording in the left channel. To go stereo i know i dont need two mics so what am i doing wrong.

Why do you need to record to both channels with one mic? If you want the recorded track to play on bothe left and right, just center the pan on that channel when you play back

Sorry, man. To get stereo you need 1 stereo mic or two monos. The NT1 is a mono mic. Your are only gonna get 1 channel.
