Hi -- I'm still not able to get my keyrig49 to work on my laptop, after many attempts. Wondering if anyone can help me out as I'm going a bit crazy at this point!

I have a PC laptop, running WinXP service pack 3, AMD Athlon 3000+ processor, 2 gigs RAM. The laptop has a SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio sound card (which is pretty useless when it comes to recording etc).

I just installed a Line6 Tone Port UX2 audio interface with no problems, and was able to record to Reaper via the UX2. Everything worked perfectly, no problems. The UX2 has ASIO. I followed instructions and advice given in the start up guide and via M-Audio forum, and still cannot get the Rig to work. I installed the KeyRig updater, and I also installed midi-ox to check to see if Rig was communicating with computer.

After installing midi-ox, I ran it and found that nothing was registering when I hit the keys of the Rig49. I also had a message pop up, when starting Reaper, it said, "error initializing ASIO driver". Please note that I could not get the KeyRig to start up in standalone mode either....or on my other computer, so, not sure if the latter is the main problem, or just an additional problem.

I've installed all the drivers, the keyrig software, and the keyrig updater....and I've tried getting it up with and without use of ASIO4ALL. I later uninstalled ASIO4ALL as I now have the Line6 Tone Port UX2 to serve as my soundcard. I Played with all the settings I can think of, although, I'm no expert so I might be missing something (I must be, right?). I'm going mad trying to get this thing to work!

Can someone maybe walk me through the process of installing the Rig49, and indicate settings that need to be set inside the keyrig software, Windows, Reaper, and whatever else you can think of? It would be appreciated beyond words! :-)

Thanks So Much!

Has it EVER worked???

Its usb right, so my initial thought is that it should just plug in and play pretty much straight away. But i guess not in this case.

Within Reaper, if you go to Options > Preferences > Audio > Midi devices. What is showing up there???

Thanks for the reply Vinnydude. The unit is brand new (ordered it online), so has not been used before.

I checked the setting you suggested, and "USB device" shows up, but is listed as "disabled" under the mode heading.....which is kinda weird, because I had gone into "sounds and devices" the other day, and found the tab where you can "enable" which I thought I had done....but it does not seem to "take". When I highlight it, and click "ok". it just defaults to the item at the top of the list the next time I open it. I must be doing something wrong, or making the adjustment in the wrong area? Can you guide me on this one?

Thanks!

ok, i was able to change the mode to "enabled"....and still no sound. one interesting observation however......i noticed that when i move the volume slider on the keyboard, the volume slider on the virtual instrument software moves....so it is getting some info from the keyboard! but, they keys don't seem to be triggering anything...OR, there is some weird conflict somewhere, that is not allowing sound to be heard. ideas? i've had the rig for a month and cannot use! driving me nuts. m-audio has not been much help, unfortunately. :-(

thanks!
