Hello, I am a new comer, a pupil from South Kr.
Hehe, I am once again dropping this similar question on this analogue forum.
(I was quite worried about asking a stupid question so I primarily posted my enquiry on the newbie section hehe)
Thesedays, I am interested in adopting an 1" analogue reel deck for my homerecording environment.
I am curious about synchronising my ProTools LE (running with Mbox) with any 2 / 4 / 8 track 1" analogue recorder. I'd like to collect some more specific information about controlling a reel deck on my laptop(PowerBook) with PT.
Is it possible to accurately control and modify (usually dubbing, mixdown) the recording of the 1" tape? (I recall having overheard that there is a sync line(tab?) on the tape for controlling them)
Would you introduce me some fundamentals of this process? Such as an ideal speed of the machine (reel spin?) for this type of recording and the latency of the control & Track Economy. Please recommend me some practical devices (2-track).
I'd like to directly record the audio from the software synth on my laptop to a tape to prevent the sounds from the frequency limitation of hard-disk recording and to add the warmth texture of an analogue device. + Hopefully regard my Mbox as a hub (not for recording) to send the sounds from the software to the 1" deck because I cannot directly connect the headphone port of PowerBook soundcard to any input (I once tried this and there were too much noise, even when I am scrolling bars on my laptop it made sounds)
I am just completely ignorant to go through with this kind of analogue process :-0 maybe I have to give up.

My favourite icelandic band Mœm seems to have used this device for their latest recording of the album 'Summer Make Good'
