Actually, when I met her I was a washed up alcoholic with no drive and no future.
So whats the difference between that and any other sailor? booo bad joke i know :D

so do you stay away from alcohol now or still have a drink once in a while?

If he doesn't drink, I may have to lay off the lame beer jokes, right?

I still have a beer or two, closely supervised by my wife. If she's not with me, I don't drink, because one is too many and a hundred ain't enough. She cuts me off and I obey. Every once in awhile, she will let me tear it up, but as soon as I start to lose control, I get sent home to bed...

It sounds lame, but it works for me and keeps my marriage happy....

No, that wouldn't be right! :D

Damn 30 seconds between posts rule...................

Not lame, SMART. Some people need a little guidance, just to keep them from getting into trouble. Fun is good, trouble bad. Have fun, with no trouble.
Sounds like a smart wife. Mine lets me drink, and have fun, but reminds me of the last time I did something, shall we say, NOT TOO SMART!!! It happens to the best, and it happens to us mortals more often. Getting home to bed is a very safe place for the inebriated. A car is not very safe.

I don't know if I could lay off lame jokes anyway. I can't be too serious, as that would require more thought than I can give.

Actually, I am not sure how I got my wife, except that I treated her like a princess and got her to feel that no other man could ever treat her the way I did. And I still treat her the same 10 years later.
I don't think that's a secret....
Yup. The best piece of advice I ever got re: women was, "The things you do to get 'em is the things you do to keep 'em."

I don't know about that...

Sometimes it takes much more thought to come up with something clever to say that sounds off the cuff...

And don't give up anything like that on my behalf. I'm not sure I deserve it! :D

I learned that one early. It's paid for itself time and time again.

I never want to hear my wife say that she misses the way thing used to be. That would seriously bum me out.

How'd we get here, from where this started?
It happens. Someone will say something that gets things going in another direction. Thought processes on here turn on a dime... I just got use to it...

Man, if I only knew what I did to get my wife. I guess she just feels sorry for the less fortunate. I actually started teaching her guitar a few months ago, and she is extatic. Actually, she is probably better than I am now, as I never practice.
Rokket, I'd never give anything up on someone else's behalf, but I could watch it if need be. Glad it's no problem on your end, as I know people that have had to give up drinking all together, as it was way to destrucive for them. Your wife watching out for you is pretty damn cool. Mine is awesome, and I kinda like it. She actually let me "retire" a year and a half ago. Now if I could just find the time to record some music....

I think spending less time on here could give me more time to record. :D

But I am at work, and my gear is at home...

Besides I think the boss would get mad if I was to bring it in.

"What are you doing?"

"Mic'ing my 4X12 cab, why?"

"HERE????"

"Uh, yeah! Why?"

See what I mean?

August isn't very far off. Course, if you don't have anymore free time, retirement just means career change. Hopefully you wind up with more free time. That's something money can't buy. I didn't work for quite some time, but went to school, and actually had less free time for some reason. It was actually quite confusing. Reading all them words hurt my brain, and I found out my fingers tired of writing for 10 hours straight. I'm very happy to pound nails, or paint when I get the chance now.

Since I am going into the merchant marines, I will probably have less free time in the beginning, but after a few years of it, I should be pretty happy with my station in life and settle down and open a business like a bakery or a small mom and pop restaurant. Then I know I'll have some free time because the wife will be running it, and I get to do the studio thing.

If you haven't used that as a song lyric yet, you need to. It's a keeper.

Nubs mentioned me by name. I am honored.
