Sounds good UnkleSlam...you should give us a rundown of what, who, and how each part was recorded. Don't we all wish we had a drummer that we could keep in our pocket and bust out as necessary?

I'll need a few more listens to offer any in-depth opinions.

Unkle,
That's some nice stuff, pretty well written and recorded. The overall level on cringe seemed a little low. All you need is some vox and lyrics and you're ready to go!!!

Nice

Greetings,

Thats that pretty cool stuff, sounds like an instrumental jam session really. I am into that guitar-drum riff based kinda stuff.

I would be interested to know about how the guitar was recorded.

THANX!!!

Yeah Gritzy it's cool when 2 of your best friends are drummers. I just wish a had some singer and bass player buddies. Then I'd be set.

Okay here's a rundown on how I did what. Keep in mind that I am a rank amateur, and all of this is done on poor boy equipment.

The guitar on " The Deepest Blue" and "Mojo Chile" is run direct in to my Tascam 564, through a Zoom 505II. A custom Fat Strat style guitar.

The Bass and Drums on "Mojo" are just a preset on a ZoomRT123. I just did that, to let a buddy hear that machine, so that song is more or less a joke.

The Bass on "The Deepest Blue" is ran direct. The drums were programmed on a Boss Dr. Rythym.

The Guitar on "Smile" is an Epi Les Paul, ran into a Line6 Spider 210 and miced dead center, left speaker. The bass is ran direct through a DanEcho. The drums are the Zoom.

The guitar on "cringe" is the same as on"Smile". The bass is ran direct , trough an Alesis NanoCompressor. The drums are a Slingerland Tre' Cool set miced on the snare, bass, and one overheads. All mics are crappy Nady's.

Thanx so much for the compliments guys. It really means a lot to me. If your ever on guitar.com give me a shout.

Good job overall. The kick drum is a little loud on the "verse". The lead axe sounds a little thin to me too. There also seem to be some phasing issues with the cymbals. How did you record the kit (mic placement). Nice punchy snare. I'd like to hear some panned doubled rythym guitars to fill out the sound a little. Good job. Nice riffs. How bout some vocs too!

Edit
Oops. Just read the previous post on drum mics. sorry

First off, thank you. This is one thing I love about this site. Most people on here have a great attitude, and are willing to offer constructive criticism. Instead of the " You Suck" 's that you get on some sites.

I assume you are talking about "cringe".

The rythym guitar actually is doubled, I just mixed 'em a little too centered.

The kick is too loud, I think so too.

Not trying to cop out, but I am mixing on a pair of $20 headphones right now. It's just about impossible for me to get a decent mix.

I will soon be mixing on a pair of monitors, so maybe I will have something better to offer a little later.

Thanx again.

Oh, Yeah!

I can't comment on the "phase issues" of the cymbal mics, because I don't know any thing about "phase". If you could explain a little I would appreciate it.

Thanx.
