Im really impressive to see that the recording community is so big .
I would like to ask some info for you guys because i will start a studio, so i wont do many mistakes. I just want some items for starting.

Im a real musician for years now, playing guitar and keyboard and vocals and this is the first time i think seriously to go professional.

So i will make strait quentsions to you to be able to answer easily. I know there are many different opinions so i will take your answer as a suggestion.

1. Suggest me a couple of sound cards, preferred firewire, with all the nessesary compatibilities. My inputs are mic, guitar and midi controler. Budjet $300-$500

2. Can i do all my recording staff, adding sounds, mixing tracks, drums ets with reason 4? Do i need any other software? Suggestion? $500-$1000

3. Do you suggest any midi controler? $100-200

4. Record guitar from mic or directly to the pc?

1. How many inputs do you need? How many things do you need to be able to record at one time?

2. No, reason is not audio recording software, it’s for creating and mixing sounds inside the box. If you want to record vocals and guitars etc you'll need something like Cubase, protools, Sonar etc. Reaper is relatively new but is becoming very popualr and it's cheap (in fact the demo is free) and very well supported.

3. Not a MIDI person so won’t answer this question.

4. Guitars invariably always sound better when mic’d be that micing the actual guitar in case of acoustic or micing the amp for electric.

I'll take #3.

Those M-Audio Axiom look pretty sweet but Those are a little past your budget.
I use an Evolution MK361c Which they don't even make anymore but I love it. It is built like a tank.

It really depends on what you want though. If you are a piano player you probably want weighted keys. If you will be doing a lot of synth work you'll want something with more assignable controllers. If you want something to control your DAW with you probably would like some sliders on there as well.

M-Audio makes quite a few controllers in your price range but at that price you pretty much have to decide between weighted keys and lots of buttons and knobs.
