My first attempt at a complete song in my home studio. Below is the post I placed on The Gear Page to go with the clip:

I'd welcome any feedback on the recording, mix, song, playing, etc. It's a straight/uptown style blues played with a USACG Tele with Don Mare pu's, direct to a Louis Electric Tremblelux and Scumback H75 speaker (not broken in yet). The amp currently has a Scumback M75 speaker.
The recording was made with a dual Power Mac G-5, Digi 002R running Protools 7.4. The guitar amp recording chain included a Sennheiser e906 dynamic mic and a Royer R-122 active ribbon mic. The e906 is going direct to the Digi 002R and the R-122 is going through a Universal Audio LA-610 tube preamp set for very light compression. Both of those mics are used for close micing of the amp. A Shure KSM-44 condenser mic going through a Universal Audio Solo 610 is used as a room mic.
This is a rough recording with some mistakes, but I'm more interested in feedback on the song, mix, and general quality of the recording. It was all done in my home studio which is far from an ideal environment. By the way, there is about a 15 second lead in before the song begins...obviously I'm new at this.
Thanks to Pete Bradt for helping me get this posted. Anyway, hope you enjoy it. Have at it. Listen here:

Very cool man. Like that lead guitar tone. Those horns that come in sound a little dry to me. Everything seems well tracked to me. Nice guitar leads man, very nice sounding. Like the organ tone on the left. Only real nit is theres like 2 minutes of silence at the end of the song after the fade out, editing that out would get the mp3 size down a bit. Really enjoyed this.

Take care
Gary

Thanks Gary. I really appreciate the comments. You're right about the empty space at the end. Although I'm a long time pro musician I'm a novice at home recording. I need to investigate how to edit that off the end of the song. There is some room reverb on the horns but I was probably a little too conservative with it. It may have been obvious to you (I'm not sure?) but all the keyboards, horns, and drums were virtual software. The keyboards and horns were triggered with a Roland GR-33 guitar synth. I just make sure to play the horn parts within the register of the respective horns. With the piano I record the "left hand parts" on one track and "right hand parts" on another. Same with organ parts. As you may know B-3 players like to slide up to a drone note with one hand and play a lead or chord over the top of that with the other hand. I just do that on separate tracks too. I have to be resourceful as I don't have access to many really skilled musicians where I live.

Great arrangement and fine playing all through it. The song structure/arrangement sure made me think of Albert Collins-and you're playing a Tele to boot! I've heard people on the Tele Discussion forum raving about the Don Mare pickups-I can see what they are talking about now...congrats on a fine recording..! And I'm a big Tele fan-in case you didn't notice.:D
