thanks frank! You've done a great job programming them. I had SD for a while but tbh i struggled to process the more raw samples (in Fields of Rock especially)...so I reverted back to EZD which is mostly just setting levels and minor EQ. Maybe i'll go back and revisit SD at some point once i get better at mixing
it does take a while, but not a long while....
i tried the RAW outputs for a while...
after i was finished writing the parts, i'd output each individual track (whoa, don't output all those room tracks!!! LOL), and then i mixed it like i would a real drum kit.
took forever!!
then i started using the preset mixer setups instead, and keeping it all stereo two track output, which so simplified things.
then i figured out how to build custom kits, and i would leave it in MIDI mode, and just swap pieces of kits out.
then i figured out how to use the mixer properly (actually sounds better than when i output the raw tracks and mix those)
then i figured out how to save templates on the mixers, and what i do now, is, try out different kits throughout the mixing process, finalize the drum track, pick a final kit, then simply change the midi to audio, and boom ! done !!
so easy.
and later, if i decide i just don't like the snare,
i'll turn the audio back to midi, change the snare, tune it, then change it back to audio again.
two tracks. that's all.
i run the output of the kit in the superior mixer thru an EQ, and the tape emulator. keep it below 0db, and manage the overall level in the DAW mixer.
so easy.
