Headphones

I need some good (neutral) headphones.

Anyone any idea?

But, the Beyer 770 cans will give you a nice sound, round, full, bullish, but I don't know if I can call it "neutral."

If you say, "Transparent," I'd have better idea of what you're after. But, it seems the word, "transparent" kind of ties in with expensive.

When I'm recording or recording talent, I use the Beyer cans. When I'm alone and mixing, I can use wireless cans; however, I always do the final mix listening to the monitors BEFORE I mix.

As do most of the talents on this forum.

But, hey, what do your ears tell you?

With neutral I mean uncolored and yes transparant.
I want them to record acc guitars and vocals and to sound check them.
I don't have a recording boot. I have everything in one room. And I do the singing myself.
 
why is it when i post questions about headphones i get 0 responses?

In my opinion, headphones have exactly three uses:

1. For a performer to hear a mix while recording vocals or a miked instrument.

2. To listen closely to a track for unwanted pops/clicks, etc.

3. To listen late at night if someone is asleep in an adjacent room.

None of these uses requires anything completely flat or super expensive.

Headphones are NOT good for mixing or mastering. Always use the monitors.
 
Well, since it hasnt been mentioned, what you want are the Sennheiser HD-600's, or of too much money, the 580's.
Extremely flat, open headphones that you can even get a pretty damn close mix on. Things will sound weird at 1st becuase of the lack of hype, maybe even a tad disapointing when listening to your favorite stuff, but they grow on you after a few days and nothing will ever compare again... smooth cymbals, thick sounding... I like mine a LOT. They are pretty much an audiophile quality, and if you really want to get the most of them, get a dedicated super-clean headphone amp.
www.headphone.com has them as well as most places that carry Sennheiser.
For closed headphones, look at the 280 pro.

Personally, I like the Audio-Technicas mentioned in another post above.

To me, when I'm listening to a track on these headphones what I hear is more similar to what I hear when I listen to the same track on speakers. Relative to other headphones, anyway. Whether that's something to be wished for, I can't say (others apparently disagree). I like it.

But how a particular set of headphones sounds is pretty individual: not only does it depend on the peculiarities of your psychoacoustic predilictions, it also varies with the shape of your head and ears. I guess.
 
heard the akg k55's
i think they're the worst sounding piece of audio equipment i've ever heard, you'd have to pay me to use them
my brother just exchanged them for a pair of Apex 90 something or others, and they sound a LOT better, and for the same price (50 canadian)
they're cheap, so obviously not that great, but a lot better than the akg's.
