what are y'all using for cans??

I have a set of DT100s that I love but I need 3-4 sets of semi reasonable cans for use when bands/vocal groups come in

I have about £120-£150 at my disposal

so would you guys & gals reckon if I was going to buy (IYO) the "best cans for £40 (or equivalent there of)

I vouch for harvey and the moreme's, very good for the price, nice tight fit over the ears, perfect for giving to people that don't care about your equipment as they are cheap but well built. Have two pairs, wish I had more..............me's. :p

I went with the deluxe models haven't tried the standard ones, but the deluxe with the extra padding up top is a nice touch.

You will need headphone extension cables though, as the cables off the phones are pretty short.
 
I'm using cheap AKG K 44s right now, but I'm getting some MoreMes soon.
 
Grado headphones are great, and come in all price ranges.
Senns are less fatiguing on the ear-flesh though, YMMV.

All the Grados are open backed, making them pretty useless for tracking, and they don't handle high power levels well. For mixing, they don't work well either; everything sounds too good on the Grados. But I love the Grados for just listening to music.

Only problem I have with the Sennheisers is sweating; they get uncomfortable after a while. Great sound though.
 
I've used the standard Sony and AKG phones, cheaper versions, Extreme Isolation, HD280, and a few other odd ones; and the HD280 seems best to me in comfort, isolation, and sound.

Funny you (Harvey G) should mention sweating & being uncomfortable after a while with sennys. I agree they have a great sound but every time I've had a pair on it's all I could do to keep them on my head without going insane

I use AKG K240 studio edition semi openbacked and love them , not too fatigueing and great sound.

I went to Long and Mcquade and tried quite a few pairs and was prepared to pay much more than these cost , but found them to be better all around than many twice the price ;)

how is the level of spill from cans to mic being semi open??
 
moreme's...a baker's dozen here. They fall off the stands people trash 'em and I don't sweat it and they sound decent to boot.

that's what I like to hear, I'm seriously leaning towards the moreme's
