I'm looking into getting headphones to go with a M4. Does the M4 have a microphone amp? If it doesn't am I right in saying that I'll need to get low impedence headphones unless I get a seperate headphone amp.

ok,
the m4 accepts headphones of approx. 200 Ohms, and the 'phones jack socket is a 3 pole "A" gauge stereo jack.
What does that mean to a lay man, and how does it restrict the type of 'phones I can get.

As long as your only running one pair out of the headphone jack, you will not need an amp. And any standard headphones will work just fine(Sony's, AKG's, Sennheiser's).
