Hello!

I wonder how I shall do to be able to have a separate mix that I can use for listening as Im recording, and be able to switch between the two mixes? So I don't have to change the channel levels in the main mix? Do I have to use the "control room" funktion for this? I only use one pair of headphones (i.e both mixes have to share output). My soundcard is saffire pro 26 and I use cubase 5. Hope this makes sense!

Yes, the Control Room mixer will do this.

First you need to open VST Connections (F4) and turn on the Control Room. Then you should add "Studio" buss and assign it to two spare output channels on your interface. Don't add a headphone buss. Go to the control room mixer and make sure the entire window is expanded.

Then, select the tracks you want to send to the headphone mix. Go back the control room mixer, right click in a grey area on the mixer and select All Studios -> "enable studio sends". Then, do the same thing again and select "Use Mix Levels". Do it again and select "Use current pan settings". This should send an identical mix as what is coming out the master bus to the headphones that you can adjust independently from the channel studio sends.

Here is a video:

Hope that helps.

Cheers :)
