Hello I've been playing guitar for about 15 years. I recently set up basic home studio in the spare room. I am having a few problems getting things the way i want them. I would really appreciate any advice because these issues are preventing me from going forward with my recording.

I am using garage band and it says the monitors are off but they are not off. How do i fix this?

I also have two small condenser mics but can't seem to get them to record in stereo. How can i solve this?

How do i record video in real time with my midi audio?

If anyone knows the answer to these questions that would be really helpful.

Thank you.

Cosmos,
Can you tell us in detail what equipment you're using and what remedies you've tried?
What interface do you have? Does it work as your system output? Does garageband recognise it ok?
Has the setup ever worked?
What video camera are you using? Where does midi factor in?

I've never seen software that can tell if your monitors are on/off. What monitors do you have? Are they working for system output?(iTunes, internet etc)
What exact message does it give you?

As much as you can, please. :)

hi, thanks for the reply.

Im using a Focusrite 18i8 interface.

Yes it worked well with garageband before but now when i check the box to turn the monitors off it doesn't turn them off. The sound still comes through.

I wanted to record with my apple cinema display webcam while I'm recording in gargeband.

My monitors are made by yamaha I'm not sure which model. Yes they work with system output.

Why? There are better ways to get a film clip. Hint - those "live recording" YouTube clips you see... they're not (mostly) really live recordings...
