Hi,

So the problem is that after each time I'm working with cubase,
my pc wont make a sound, mp3 files, youtube, clicking folders.. nothing.

*I've moved recently to windows 7 but this used to happen on xp as well.

*I'm using cubase 5 but experienced these issues with 3 sx as well.

I'm a complete noob so for helping you guys helping me, I'll post some print screens of my cubase\sound card settings:

Are you playing back your Media with the EMU or your onboard/other sound card. Make sure your settings are right in windows "sounds" find it in control panel.

Yeah I checked out these settings, seems to look fine to me.
And I play my media only after closing cubase.

Are you playing back your media from a different interface ? It just sounds like something is disabled somewhere.

PDP is right. ASIO only allows one audio device, so if you try to use your internal soundcard, it won't work. Best bet is to use the 0404 for everything. Plug your speakers into it and don't use the internal card at all.

What, are you saying you can hear sound when using Cubase but not when you close it and go to ordinary Windows Applications?

The 0404 is notorious for being a bugger to set up, the excuse usually being it's routing flexibility - you have to spoonfeed it very exact settings to make sure you get any sound at all!

Now you've set it up as an audio device, open up DSP Patchmix, the routing application it relies on...

Find the WAVE L/R strip and put a send to ASIO in it's nearest available insert. Play something in Windows and you should see meter activity in the strip. Right click the insert and choose "Insert Send (Output To ASIOWAVE Or Physical Out)".

This should send whatever is playing into WAVE L/R to your ASIO outputs. Afterwards, when you click in the send insert and look in the monitoring window to the right, it should tell you where that send is going. You should then be able to hear everything.

anyone found a solution to that?
no other audio can be reproduced when cubase is on
