I've heard you play and you don't suck. I think it's good that you take it seriously enough to try to diversify and all that, but I would only advise that you remember to stay focused on the having fun part.

Nah, man. It's pretty lush in the southern half of the state. A nice mix of sun and rain. The north is pretty flat and barren though with not much but farmland going on. We have to mow our lawns once a week like everyone else (well, probably not you 'cause I bet it dries up all Summer). That is May through Sept. though...the rest of the year is pretty much as you describe it above.French Canadians here actually dominate the lumber industry. If you go on logging roads up north all you hear is French.
They're kind of the only sizable ethnic group in what is otherwise a very homogenous state here, so growing up, that's who everyone made fun of. Stupid and mean, but there you go. We tend to be very progressive and liberal on race issues perhaps in part because we have few actual race issues to deal with ourselves.

We have to cut our grass like crazy down here. Our spring/summer goes from about february to november. With enough rain, the yards will be a forest in no time. It's so unbelievably sunny and hot though from may through october that the grass will shrivel up and wilt if it goes like 2 days with no water. It's much different from the north. We have no "fall". The leaves don't really ever change. There is no gradual changing of the seasons. It's blazing hot until around halloween and then bam, a cold front comes through, all the trees shit their leaves everywhere, and it's mild for like 2 or 3 months until it's time to get hot again. I'll take it. Snow and ice can kiss my ass.

I drove across Texas on I 10 once and really loved it. Your area in particular felt like a tropical rainforest by comparison to the deserts of the West and the plains in the middle. I really enjoyed the trek from Houston to New Orleans.
Fall is a big deal here...tons of tourists. I don't get it. Leaves die, they change color, they fall. Blah, blah blah.

My house is literally about one mile from I-10 out here on the west edge of the greater Houston area. Being from New Orleans I've made that trip about ten zillion times. Yes, we are very "tropical" here along the gulf coast. Hot, humid, very lush and green, and flat as a board. There's not a hill or even slight change of elevation anywhere. I'm a good ~75 miles from the coast, and I'm sitting at like maybe 50-75 ft above sea level. It's flat. Once you get past my little burb of Katy headed west, it gradually gets deader and deader and more "hilly" until around San Antonio. After that, it's all vast Texas wasteland.

I love the hill country right out side San Antonio. All that area between San Antonio and Austin. All the way out to Canyon Lake. Lots of great camping out there. The fishing is a little slow, but it's fun just having a line in the water and a cold beer. That's being home to me

Yeah the Tx hill country is nice. Wimberley, Dripping Springs, New Braunfels, all that area is kick ass.

That could be nice, although I personally don't think it's that beautiful. Sure I think it's beautiful for Texas, but it's kind of meh compared to many other areas of the country.

It's 91 degrees with a 61% humidity right now and it's going to get much worse over the next few months. Then it's going to stay that way till November or December when we get our first mild cold front which will only last a few days and then get hot again. Off and on again. I think we get 2 weeks of somewhat cold weather every year lol...
