in my excitment on finding a m88 (something i ve been after awhile)i bided on something last minute without being able to pay too much attention to it(yeah i know its very dumb, stupid idea, i know i know.)

does anybody know if this "STRÄSSER" BEYERDYNAMIC M88N is a real m88?
is it just a different name?

Hard to tell. Not uncommon for older German microphones to be re-badged when they were produced - in fact it's not uncommon for older mics (think STC/Coles/BBC connection).

And it is an older microphone - the Tuchel connector points to this. It's roughly the right size for an M88 however I've only ever seen m88s with black windscreen...I would ask for more pics if you can. If you can get a close up of the innards it shouldn't be too hard to tell...

I think you have a winner. It appears Beyer wasn't the only company to make mics for Strasser.

I think you are OK. Beyer made mics for Strasser. Older M88s had silver screens (before the TD versions which are all black). The seller is a long time seller of German mics on e-bay.
