Has anyone ever won free gear?

I posted this thread out of curiosity. Musicians friend, and other sites, have free gear giveaways and i was wondering if anyone on here has ever won. Sure would be nice to get some free gear!
 
I entered a competition for the 1st prise of a rickenbacker guitar & won 2nd prise which was a vox valvetone crunch box which IMO is one of the best sounding stomp boxes I've ever used (for crunchy sounds any roads)

I won it through guitarist mag.
 
I won a number of things over the years from retailers who had little raffle drawings at special sales, conventions, or seminars.

I won a reamp box, a pro tools interactive training CD, tee shirts, etc.

But the best free stuff usually comes from endorsements. I got one of those Bose Personal Amplifier systems (sells for $2K) in return for using it on a few gigs.
 
Wow littledog! How'd you hook that up? I could use one of those systems! Especially for free :D

No fault of my own. Just happened to be playing in a band that someone at Bose saw at a club and decided we were what they were looking for, along with about 25 other bands from all around the country.
 
I won a Red Type B microphone with Red lollipop capsule. It's awesome, to borrow from 80's slang. The mic is so smoov and works well on a variety of instruments.

Now I just need to buy the famous capsules and I'll be in business!
 
For getting into the finals in guitarmageddon in 2004, I won a pod xt pro, a ton of little things, a bose Personal amplification system, a marshall halfstack, gibson les paul standard and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember.

I had a freind win a guitar and amp off the radio.

I traded him for it as he didn't play.
Nothing to dance about, no major brand.
But they did give it out.

I always wondered about this MILLION DOLLAR GEAR GIVEAWAY too?

I have never won free gear. I have signed up for about 5 givaways this week(fingers crossed). Now that you put the bug in everyone's ears my odds just went down hill quick thou. :rolleyes:
 
I’ve won (over the years) a contest (in the 80’s through a local music newspaper) where you write a press release or bio or something, I can’t even remember, for a band. The band was Sepultera (sp?) The prize was a shirt and CD.

Then from radio stations, I’ve won tickets to see Seinfield in concert (in ’94 I think), A ZZ Top boxed set or like 6 CD’s and backstage passes (Black Crows opening), but gave that away and no one ever went!
And also (for some reason) a Supertramp greatest hits CD.
(Rocktober on the Loop! lol)

Then there was an unofficial ‘letter’ of the month from the VERY VERY nice ppl at Schubb capos. (These guys are top notch integrity and I will never even consider another brand, they sent me a few new capos and replacement parts for the whole band I was in.)
I used to have the letter they sent me, but someone threw it away like a dick!

Then the BEST and one of the happiest days ever was when I won another (Informal) writing “contest”, the topic being “Why should I give you my Tascam 38 and allllllll the accessories in the box– good to go?”
I couldn’t believe what I was reading when I got THAT email.
Total dream come true.

My advice– If there are any writing related contest, enter them because either there are too few entry’s or too many that are too well written, they usually want to hear it from the heart.
 
I won a pair of JBL 2X15" cabs from MF's Daily Gear Giveaway. With some haggling and dealing, I traded them in for a Gibson LP Special (with P-100s) which, after paying the taxes, only cost me 32 bucks.
 
Perhaps not won, but I got a free copy of the RaySpace plugin after nagging the developer with demos for a while :)
 
I won a free delta 2496 from fedEX... pretty sweet deal. Don't know how the dude fucked it up. The address was for the other side of town. But how lucky was that, I get something I actually wanted by complete mistake.

ive won nothing, and i probably won't ever... but i do catch some frickin killer deals on ebay. ask ryanformato about my vdrums for $450 with a keyboard amp, footpedal, and a throne... almost made him buy a set...

plus i work in a music store, so i consider almost every deal a good one.

finders keepers... I waited for 30 days till I opened it. They never came back so I figured they didn't care.
