Harvey and sonusman BIG threads (RTF format)

I was saving these for myself but decided to make them available to whoever:

It's a zip file with Harveys BIG mic thread and the sonusman thread from Mixing/Mastering.

click the link and then right click on hrcom.ziT and then do save as hrcom.zip to your local drive. My provider doesn't like .zip files.

Had a problem with my provider and .zip files so the file is renamed to a .zit file. When you download the file just save it as hrcom.zip and it should work fine.

I will respectfully ask that you not do this. I wrote those post to be read on this bbs. Distributing my writings via your website was first done without my permission, and second could be breaking copyright laws. All content on this website is copyright protected and owned by the original author and the owner of the website. I choose not to have my writings distributed anywhere else but here.

I will check back in a couple days to see that it is removed.

Hey friend, I am not pissed off. Sorry if it came across that way. Sometimes my wording comes across a bit differently that I intended the tone to be.

I also tend to be a bit sensitive concerning how content I write is distributed. It would have been easy enough for me to provide these writings as a download on my own, and have considered it. But at this time, I prefer to have it stay on homerecording.com within the thread. Anybody can copy/paste the thread into Notepad on their own if they choose!

I suppose it comes down to control of distribution. While I don't ask for any money for the time I have spent writing posts on this bbs, I DO OWN what I write, thus, can choose how it is distributed. While I know your intentions were good, you can imagine how others how run websites for profit might choose to start offering my efforts for their own gain. So, I guess it is good that no precendent get started eh?

You guys can get whole threads, on one page for printing and saving, pretty easy.

At the bottom of the page there is a link that says : Show Printable Version.

Click that and then tell it to show all pages of the thread on one page. You can then save the thread on your own PC for printing or viewing later. I just imported the saved HTML into MS Word and then saved it as a RTF file.

This works well for large threads.

With all respect to you and your thread (this is DEFINITELY NOT meant to be pissing you off!!!): if you really plan to hold the copyright on your written stuff in the threads, you might be better off not posting them here... I could not find anything about copyright notices whenever I entered this BBS. So I assume it would be very difficult to protect your rights... Even if the copyright disclaimer would be placed more visible now, I assume that no court would not have YOU to proove that the disclaimer was there at the time you posted...

I really enjoyed the 'fabulous' thread, so I hope you keep on posting, but I'd definitely not post the exact text of things you plan to publish...

Volltreffer - You have to be careful in situations like this. Don't forget that, whether stated in writing or not, a person has copyright on a work the second it's first played, written, sung, drawn, painted, etc.

LEGITIMIZING said copyright involves forms and such, but the minute you whistle an original song or draw and original invention on a napkin you own the copyright.

That's what I wanted to point out - if you're really after protecting your rights on some stuff, you should not necessarily write it into a BBS... In fact this IS a kind of publication, and you might be considered as having had the intent of somehow 'giving your copyright away'...

It was just a tip, so if sonusman cares about his rights of publication, he MIGHT be better off with not writing the identical text into this bbs...
