Hard drives

Your not doing this while the computer is on are you?
Changing the jumpers would require powering down and re-booting.

Good luck with it.
If I think of anything else, I'll be sure to post.

no im not stupid, but i did find out that the jumper marks for slave on the hd are different then the manual that i didn't get when i bought the drive, anyway i got it on slave and bios say 200gb now, windows on the other hand says 128 and its still "unallocated" whatever that means

ok i got the drive all good and everything went to format and it got 98% done then it said the drive was to big, i downloaded the maxter big drive thing and 2000 sp4 and im at a loss

Wish I could help you more man, but it's rather hard without your computer being in front of my face.
If Windows now sees the whole 200 gigs but can't format it all, you may need to go ahead and partition it. Maybe two 100 gig partitions.

ga i figured it out, thanks for all your help though, the computer was trying to format in fat32... which can only hold 32 gigs. so i had to format it to ntfs or something like that....i figured this out after hours of wandering the maxtor support page :D
