my laptop is still running of off of a 5600 prm drive. im experiencing lots of digital distortion clicks and pops and ive tried everything else to repair them.. do you tihnk my drive speed could be an issue?

The speed is fine. Hell, an Alesis HD24 can record 24 tracks of 24/48 audio without even a hiccup with a ATA 66 5400 rpm drive.

Have you tried messing with your audio buffer settings? I was having the same trouble on my desktop, and all it took was increasing the buffer size. All was well after that adjustment. Good luck!
