Hands-On Interface

What computer interface will allow me to mix hands on? I have access to a 52 channel board, is there an interface I can hook it up to and mix hands on, and record using it? Or do I need a special mixer? Thanks a ton!

I'm thinking of getting the mackie controller for mixing but i dont know how to use outboard effects with it.

You will need a dedicated surface to mix the audio within the computer. Your best bet is to buy a decent control surface as well as enough Audio I/O interfaces (i.e. M-Audio Delta 1010) as you think you may need for simultaneous tracks recorded. In order to mix with outboard effects you need to hook them up to your I/O interface, and route them from within your sequencer package, you could then record the effects as a track, for further editing, within your package.
