Hands down... What is your absolute favorite mic?

I'd have to say my Oktava 012s. *hides face in shame*

Adam P, dont hide your face in shame! If you are having fun with those Oktava's, thats what it's all about. For me it's the CAD M9 (with Telefunken tube) Sennheiser MD21, and my SM81.

Studio Projects' line. They have a crispness and signature sound, and perform just as well (if not better) than other big names in the business.

414 tl2....bright but not hrash...works well with compressors..

Haha, it's hard not to in the company of Brauner, Schoeps, M. Gefell, Neumann, and even 414 and SM7. I do have fun though!

The Gefell M930. It's pretty much the workhorse in my studio.

My Rode NT1000. I just love that thing, almost anything I put up against it just seems to sound awesome! Some people don't seem to like this mic, so maybe I got lucky! I dunno, but its my favorite.

Beyer M201! Beyer M201! Sell your expensive mics and buy 10 of 'em!

I've got a pair of old Altec M20 tube SDC. I could record a whole album with them, I love them so much. :)

Gefell UM92.1S - Gotta a pair and they are fantastic - waiting on a pair of KM84's that may unseat them on AC Guit's and OH's though.

RCA (SK-50) Varacoustic. It looks like a razor but sounds like... well... it sounds like a super smooth old ribbon mic.

I'm gonna go well against the grain and say the Royer Stereo Ribbon. :)

Funny -- I wanted to post the exact same phrase! :D

Up to this point, I would have to say my Peluso 2247.
