I hear ya on the kick. I went back and forth with thud vs attack. I just liked it this way better. If it was authentic you wouldn't hear the kick at all. :p

A lot of that old surf music had drums that sounded like they were tossing a salad back there, rather than actually hitting anything...:)

I've got another original I'm working on right now that really deals with some gayness. All it needs is vocals. If this phlegm and mucous ever goes away, I'll finish it.

I love it already.

I'm not trying to toot my own horn, but I think it may be my best song yet....if I ever get to finish it. It's really dumb and simple and silly, but I like those the best.

What's it called? Send me a message when you get it done, I'm looking forward to hearing it.

"It's my best song yet" isn't really tooting your own horn IMO. You never said anything about it's quality. It could be your best of amazing songs, or your best out of a huge pile of garbage :laughings:

Quality is subjective. I think all of my songs, particularly my latest few, are good quality. Like "Shit Eating Grin". I really like that one. That's just for me though. Most people probably wouldn't/don't like them, and I'm totally fine with that. I don't make music with the hope that someone will like it. I only post songs in here for mix critiques. I couldn't care less if anyone actually likes them or not. :D

So anyway, yeah, I think it's gonna be good quality. :drunk:

NOW you're tooting your own horn :laughings:

I kid I kid! I think it's great when somebody can actually say "I think my work is of good quality," and be confident about what they do. This is, of course, provided that their work is actually good. If not, well... You know how it is :D

I think most people who comment on your mixes seem to like them, from a music point of view too. I, personally, am not crazy about punk music, and there's a few of your songs that I didn't like. But more often than not, I really like your music. I show it to friends when they come around, as I do with other HR members mixes when I really like them.

Well that's nice. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad if someone likes my stuff, but it doesn't really mean anything to me. I'm still just gonna do what I do. I kind of feel like I'm going backwards, and I kind of like it. Simpler, faster, better. I just try to write stuff that I'd want to listen to. :D

If one can't stand behind their music/production/engineering/mixing with confidence ... good or bad... irregardless of what seasoned 'professionals' might or might not say

It's time to pack it in.

it's not about tooting any horns.

Unless your stawl.

I wouldn't say it's time to pack it in. If you're only new to it, you won't stand by it straight away, because the chances are you don't really know what you're doing. So, instead of packing it in, you improve yourself and learn more. It's when you can't stand by your mixes, but can't/refuse to improve, that there's a problem.

Right. And that's why I keep posting. I think I make pretty good mixes now, but by no means am I content to just sit back and think I'm done. No way. I can get better, and I'm gonna.

Greg goes surf...???:eek::D
What a damn great recording! Your quality has always been awesome but this is freakin' amazing. There isn't a thing that doesn't sound right. I would take those ears and and fuckin' insure them!

Yup, you make me feel kinda small and insignificant....:o

PS: I miss the punky voice and the witty lyrics.....:drunk::D

Great work, bro, and I signed up.....;)

Joey :)

Why don't you make a career out of this? Seriously.
