Thank you,

hehe!

thanks for the good words guys.. I was wondering if people were sick of seeing my ass put up tunes every other week.. and sometimes almost weekly!

I wasn't trying to say I was leaving or anything, I was just thinking that I should post songs less.. I have been recording like a fiend lately, and last night I was drinking some wine, and I added solos to this.. I wasn't sure if I should post it or not, and then I started thinking... hence, the humility thread! :D (please shoot me)

The stars thing doesn't bother me, and it shouldn't bother anyone.. That stuff is usually meaningless..

No one seems to have any mix suggestions so I'll take it the mix was half way decent.. I did some different stuff on this one.. One thing is I recorded it @16 bit instead of the usual 24.. It uses up a lot less space on my Tascam 788.. I hear subtle differences, but I think it's almost good enough.. The second thing I did was run the whole mix through a Blue Max compressor.. It went from the recorder, to the Blue Max, and then into a Tascam CDRW 5000.. I attached a picture of the area..

I'll respond properly later because I only have a few minutes to check out some tunes before I have to jet..

thanks a lot fellas, you guys rule!:D

....the beautifully arranged faders on the 788 were a nice touch:D

.....Its cool to see your stuff man. Im gonna have to get a patch bay. My stuff is a much bigger mess.

Im not even gonna comment on that "too many posts" stuff. You know how it is.:)

Working on a DAW I have noticed what I believe to be quite a difference between 16 and 24. But the problem I have in making that assessment accurately is that my recording techniques were also improving. My projects are usually about a GB at 24bit...had to buy an external HD to keep going!

The only thing I wonder though is if we'd notice the difference after MP3 compression. And by the way, I did mention a mix issue, which may or may not be an issue. I thought the snare could come up. But other than that it was very good!

This works, man... sounds really professional.

It's amazing to hear an audible difference in your abilities, Sam, in just the short time I've hung around here and listened to your stuff. You should sell this to haunted houses, or something... maybe sell it to a video game making company, or something... it would kick their ass.

You have the amazing talent to hear all this stuff in your head, and get it down quickly... Everything I've heard from you (creativity-wise) is very good, and that ain't sunshine up your tailpipe :)

What else can be said? Oh, almost forgot... should have thanked you specifically in my thread about it... but thanks for the multiple bumps... more folks got exposed to the song all because of you... turnabout is fair play tho, dig? :D

Jeez... Sam, the master songwriter is also a kick-ass human being :D

Sam, I'm gonna freak the kids out this year. I'm gonna take a bunch of your stuff, burn it to Cd and play it all night long on halloween. :D :D :D Hell no you don't put to much stuff up. Keep em commin'

I REALLY like this alot. I am gonna have this playing when the little shits come to my place for candy this year.

I got a "bandwidth exceeded"message on hi fi.
That's a new one!
Just downloaded it,cable rocks!

My opinion is,if you posted a song a day,it wouldn't be too much,Sam!
Your stuff is always interesting, inovative, and very cool!
Oh ya,and it rocks my world too!:D

I always look foward to what you have up your sleeve!

I was hoping you would post a Halloween tune, you should put all your Haloween type stuff at the top of your page for everyone to listen to.
You know,in the spirit of the season!:p

Cool song, the intro sounds like Doom,my favorite game!
I dig the tube bell sound.
Really huge mix you have going there Sam,just great.
How did you do the backround voices?

Definitly got me ready for tricks or treats!:D

Eerily satisfying stuff!

Pete

I actually thought you weren't posting as many songs as you used to and wondering why not? So you're behind the count as far as I'm concerned. You owe me about 7 or 8 tunes. ;)
This one has the signature Sam-sound but I agree with earlier comments that it could use some fleshing out. I'd like some vocals (spoken maybe) and at least one serious ride. But I sure wish I could get that thick full sound you get.

This definantly has an evil halloween vibe to it.... How did you get so twisted? Oh i forgot, your a musician, nevermind. Great soundtrack stuff. I like the gtr playing and tones you got. Some spoken word would be good. You are a talented songwriter. The more songs you post the better I get, cause you humble me and make me work harder. Keep em coming.

when you stop posting tunz, I stop coming here.

ME TOO!! . Well i sure as hell wouldn't like it very much! Good stuff man, WE WANT MORE MORE MORE more more:D

Very cool tune-Where'd you get the chanting monks? Nice guitar solo-A little much on the dive bomb whammy stuff but thats just me-it fits the tune. Nice section from ~2:00- cool twisted melody. Mix sounded good-I miss some your older drum sounds-the bass drum almost sounds like a rim shot in the opening section. Guitar sound was good but almost sounded a bit muffled to me--- the synth sounds were nice-and I like the open and close wierdness alot. Very easy to tell this is you-composition-performance and recording are all very well done. Always look forward to your next.

I can't read the comments in your threads b/c they're just too damned long!!! ... so forgive me if I repeat.

Very very VERY good, overall. I'd like more kick and snare, but I guess you're going for a more subdued drum sound these days.

Excellent...and fun on the headphones too.

psycho killer

Crimminey...you just caused me to get off my meds and start killing again!!!!!

Cool stuff....and dude...I've posted the same damn song a bunch of times...so...if anyone is king dork as far as that goes...its me. I view it as a great tool for people to comment and its a good way to get feedback on multiple sound systems without having to go across the country playing your songs on multiple stereos.

If someone doesn't want to listen...they won't download it....

keep em comin' psycho.

I say--post 'em if you got 'em! keep the rest of us honest!

cool!

I typed this long reply, and I was at the bottom when the whole page disappeared! :D :(

boydrj - glad to hear the word 'eerie'.. for once I got something close to how I wanted it.. :D thanks for the good word!

mixmkr - I know you tell it like it is, so thanks man! I guess you didn't listen to the tune!

powderfinger - cool! thanks for saying that..

Sigme9 - thanks man.. Revelations is scary.. especially knowing it's true!

matty_boy - without effects, I am lost.. thanks for the word!

Kramer - hey Kramij, yeah the drums are still down.. :( I miss them.. here's how I mixdown.. I record everything on the Tascam 788, and then I go out of the analog outs into a Tascam CD-RW5000 burner.. For this tune I went into a Blue Max compressor before the burner.. I have to watch the levels, so it takes me 7 or 8 trys before I get the song burned as high as I can without ever clipping.. I definitely pick up noise on the way.. I cant use the burner on the 788 because it always comes out too low.. The only recording thing I use the computer for is mp3 conversion.. I'm hoping to get some mastering software soon though.. Then I'll rip the wave from the cd and then convert it.. thanks as always man! pleasant dreams! :D

macle - thanks for the input man, I knew you would understand! :D You will always remain loved by me!

Track Rat - you would never know that was a Hamer Telecaster eh?! :D I put a Seymour Duncan hot rail in it.. Yeah man, that's the BOSS PS-5 pitch shifter pedal.. It really is the best of the Wammy's.. I have tried everyone of them and this is the best because it doesn't add any noise, and because it's a boss pedal, the bypass is true.. (I sound like a freagin salesman) :D but I do love it.. It also has all the sounds from the BOSS harmonizer pedal, and the BOSS octave pedal.. I use it with a Roland EV-5 expression pedal, but you really don't need it because you can make a lot of cool settings by itself.. When I'm using it, I make the Wammy gestures with my hand as I'm playing it! :D  It's kinda like having an invisible wammy bar, so I try emulate what it would look and sound like.. check this out, the whole outro solo was my Roland xp-30 keyboard into the Pod Pro, and then into a Blue max compresor.. Did you know the outro solo was a keyboard? probably now that I said it, you'll be able to tell easily.. thanks Track! you can see a new picture of the tele on the Nowhere biography page! :D

Sound track stuff for sure. Good music for Quake 3!

The shift to the swing 4 was a bit off in places, but a cool idea nevertheless. I found the overall mix EQ a bit confusing. Bassy, but also has a bit too much mid range. I blame the synths on that, tricky bastards to mix I'm sure. Should be an easy fix though.

Is that a sansamp tri-od in the picture?

This reminded me of Pink Floyd.

Cool stuff!
