In most cases, I'm partial to Tascam,...

& that's pretty much the beginning & end of it.

The models that I'd prefer Fostex is where Fostex had a format or unit that Tascam did not have a parallel or superior version.

I think I already said that, so I'll stop repeating myself, & get off the line.

;)

right on. the 42 out there looks newer but the otari seems to have more options for eq'ing the tape speed and stuff like that. it also has some sort of flux indicator?

i am leaning towards the 42 cuz it does look pretty new.

because I agree entirely with Beck!

Beck was kind enough to echo some points I made earlier, too.

WTG, Beck! ;)

Repent! The end is near! :D

Seriously Reel, you and I think alike most of the time. We both have the advantage of having lived during the home recording revolution and both ended up with a high regard for Tascam stuff.

MTR 12 1/2" four track

I know this is an old thread, but can you record 4 tracks simultaneous to a Otari MTR 12 1/2" four track?

.............................

If it's not 2", it is consumer equipment, period. It is called narrow width format officially and Tascam designed it for home, consumer use. Pro recorders are 1" and 2".
