So which is preferable?
Recording as hot as possible (as close to 0dB)?
Recording at a volume relative to the tracks desired level in the mix?
Preserving bit depth initially (while tracking), or leaving the track unmanipulated by software after (during mixing)?
*EDIT* Now I've found a thread where recommended tracking level is -12dB on all tracks, in keeping with "Recording at a volume relative to the tracks level in the mix"
