I check the Soundclick charts MAYBE once a week at most. Never really pay much attention because I realise they don't mean aything. Like most of those "independent" sites, the only people that visit them are the musicians posting their tunes there.
So, anyway, today I go look at the "Funk" charts because I put one of my songs on there a long time ago, and I see that I have the #1 song. Now, I know its no big deal because of the reasons I stated above, but the funny thing is, I have no idea how that happened. I never posted that song here. Maybe by posting one of my other songs here last week, people went and listened to other songs on my page??? Who knows. Just goes to show how irrelevant those charts are. And if that's the case, then I guess I should thank everyone here...hehe.
Well, since it's #1, I might as well post the link. Maybe Mytery Records will give me a call!!!

It's a protest song called IVORY TOWER

Feel free to hijack this thread with your "Funk" songs if you have any. We might as well make this the "Funk Thread".

Me thinks you trying to keep it at number funkin 1 ;)

No...I'm trying to get Ted Christian's attention.
But in all honesty, it would be cool to keep it at #1 for rmore than a day. If only because the band that's at #2 bought the "Featured band" promo, which puts a picture and direct link to the band page right on the charts page. I didn't buy no stinkin' promo.
Also, the "Funk" chart is "sub" chart, which is why it really doesn't mean shit. But it's still cool because now I'm going to print the page of my song at #1 and pick up chicks....Nice ones too. :)

Is that really the case though?.... I mean you've got like 10,000 downloads. How many bands are there on soundclick?

I might have to re-think things, after having spent some time there now. A lot of people call themselves "signed" and have produced really professional stuff that's up for grabs there. How come I don't know any people in "real life" who go there to look for new music? Hang on, I know ONE. And he makes music.

i've had my clashtafari track there for maybe a month, and not one download OTFL..... i guess it might have "helped" if i'd linked you guys to soundclick like people usually do. Ach well, i'm not really targetting musicians anyway.

Seeing the myriad of bands there has the same impact on me as entering a CD shop. I immediately abandon any hope of ever surfacing :(

You mean earth, wind, water and.....and fire????? Cool!!! That's a cool chart, I wish I knew what the hell it said. :)

Speaking of the elements, TRUE has a song called WIND AND FIRE, which is awesome. On the same page, there's a tune called "Awake" which is also killer. Can't decide which one I like better, they're both like buttah...!

Madmush, maybe I'm being a little synical, but I don't know any "average person" that visits those sites on a regular basis. I'm sure some do, but i really believe it's musicians, their friends and fans and maybe a few curious people that stumble upon the site. I'm sure if I looked to see who listened to my song to make it move up the chart at all, it would be people from here and maybe one or other music sites that I visit. Maybe I'm wrong, I hope I am.

RAMI, being #1 on Soundclick may not mean anything in reality, but you make some damn good music, and THAT is probably why people listen to the rest of your songs. (that is meant as a compliment, so if it comes across all wrong, kill me...) I believe I have listened to every one of your tunes myself.

:D

You bet your arse it is cool, and well deserved!!!! You have earned that number one spot, and don't think otherwise!!!

I know how it happened. You shared your talent on the net, and people listened, loved it, and told someone else about it. :)
And there you have it! Wasn't that simple.
Talent + Dedication + Exposer = Success

And RAMI, I also have listened to all your tunes.

You see??? My whole "picking up chicks" theory is working already.

My name is Rami-imaR and I'm an Aries.

LOL!!! Hi, my name is True-eurT and I'm a Gemini. :D

Maybe I'm wrong, I hope I am.

I don't suppose there's a way to find out either!! :D

There's a forum here on homerecordin titled "promoting your music" (or something similar), but it seems it's never been used. Which is a shame, but it would probably be hi-jacked by gold miners in no-time...

What exactly is a Golddigger? Is that a term for Goldminers? ;)

MADMUSH, never abandon your hope. Your faith in what you love doing, and having the hope to see it through to the end, is actually what your heart puts forth to others, by encouraging them. You have some great sounds going on, and a forthcoming personality. And you are helpful and supportive of others. :)

Does not matter if the world accepts you, but the few close friends you will bond with for life, who know your passion, delight in your work and understand the driving force within you. That my friend is worth its weight in Gold.
It is the Journey to your final destination that is so wonderful.

Congratulations Rami. Your music deserves it. I agree it's very satisfying artistically to be listened to. I also agree that you should immediately use the notoriety to pick up chicks. Maybe have a few t-shirts and sweatshirts made with "Number 1 Songwriter on Soundclick.com" printed on them and the girls will be all over you, buddy. Gotta be practical.

Tim
