hey guys i was just at the guitar store and they had a hagstrom swede there for like 500 or so. ive heard about these guitars before, and although i didnt get to play it it appealed to me, im assuming they're les paul-ish? someone give me the low down on these guitars! :) thanks!

Vintage or new? They are reproducing em now. I always loved the look, but never found one that sounded or played well.

hmm im pretty sure its a new or at least newer one

New ones are coming out of China now, I think. I tried one, it was ok. My friend's (deceased) older brother had one, mid-70's, I think. Very Les Paulish.

My advice is to try to play as many of them as possible.

Cheers.

I just purchased this one brand new and I love it!!

I copied the links and some of the info I had posted earlier in the, 'How Many Guitars Do You Own' thread....

This is the new baby....Hagstrom Swede

These I tried and was impressed also...

F200

F200P

The Swede won out, because of tone. It is rich and warm and full bodied sounding..(with sweet noting too) I didn't own any guitars with that tone...now I do....of course, if I could've afforded it, I would have left with all three of them...Swede plays really smooth easy...the sustain on it is great.

Feels sooo right in my hands too...My favorite in the harem at the moment...I've dubbed him Cap'n Jack!!;):D

I tried out an Epi LP copy and liked the Hagstrom better.

Good bang for the buck in my opinion....wow...wish I would have gotten mine for 500!

You would really have to try one out for yourself...the same as any guitar...to each his own feel, sound and look.

Good luck!

ok the one i saw is the super swede but i would most likely get the swede (the regular one, not the super) in the artic white. theyre spose to be comparable to epi lp's but think epi lp's sound kinda shitty, so i guess ill just have to try one out. im savin up for a gibson lp studio, but ive heard some good things about hagstrom so i was just lookin into it and seeing as how a swede is less that half the price of the gibson...

interesting. i didn't know they'd brought these back. maybe i should come out from under the rock occasionally.....

what's the "resinator fretboard" like? i read what MF says about it , but what's it REALLY play like?

just curious as the swede and super swede piqued my interest from the pickup tone "samples" they had there (shudder on the bad midi drums though). although gotta take those "samples" with a grain of salt--they all sounded PODded to me.

visually i also liked the F-200 although i wish there had been "samples" to talk crap about. :D but i think i like the F-200 b/c my next guitar's gonna be a dual humbucker strat to go with my other strat (singles), so i'm kinda biased towards that look at the moment. always good to admit to bias. ;)

might have to give these a play if i ever see one, the closest dealer is ~100 miles away and that's just not worth it. might order one from MF and send it back if i don't like it. :p

cheers,
wade

The resinator fret board on mine is great and it plays like a dream....just like I had stated above, it has wonderful sustain....

The F200 and F200P both played well. As for feel and playability...for MYSELF...I leaned more toward the F200P, although, I am not very familiar with a whammy bar. My first is a Jackson and I still fumble a lot with it ...but that said, I would have happily brought all 3 home with me that day!

The Swede won hands down for tone and playability....I was wanting an LP copy and found it!!

So that is all the crap I have to say.....:D

hagstrom

i have a 1963 futurama .. completely original ... in the blue finish .... no doubt the fastest playing neck i have ever played ... sweet vintage single coils ..... i inhereted it from the original owner who had a choice of the hag or a strat .... the hag played better ...... blows away my strat

I saw one in Guitar Center and played it, and fell in love with the bass tones! I am a Travis picker so I have to have a thumping bass line and a clean middle and treble that renders to some tube compression well.... This sucker running through a Fender 4x10 sounded amazing! it was warm and thick.... I can't remember the model but it was a black semi hollowbody for $199 used.... It was gone three hours later :(
