I own several AKG microphones and some other well-known brands too. Some of them are their C 2000B, C 4000B & C414B-ULS and the C 391B pencil condenser [just to give you a quick list] On my small bodied Martin 000 16 acoustic, the C2000B actually sounds pretty darn nice... especially for the price! Since the C 2000B has a half inch diaphragm inside its casing, it has a sparkly, more snappy timbre to it. My Martin really likes the C 391B the best, however, that mic is a lot more money [over $500 retail].
I should mention too that while goofing around with this microphone, I found an application for which the C 2000B really shines in... Electric guitar & amp/cabinet mic'ing. The C 2000B has a very unique "growl" to it that sounds like no other mic I've ever heard [or used before] for this purpose. Overall, it's a dynamite microphone for the dough! And if it doesn't quite do it for you, you should, as stated earlier, be able to get your money back a lot easier than with some other not-so-well known brand of imported mics. BTW, it also sounds fine on sax and vocals too from my own experience. Just thought you might want to know?
