guitars are louder after mastering

I know why it does this. But how can I master and not have the guitars get so loud in the mix. In other words, how can I master and not change the mix. I'm using the waves mastering bundle with the renaissance compressor.

I've experienced simular problems when stepping on a mix with software compressors having things either jump forward or dissappearing. If I were compressing hard for the effect, I'd mix accordingly; if the guitar came forward, drop back and remix with the guitar back down a bit and then squash it again to see how everything faired.
I've not had lots of problems with the Waves plugs like this but with T Racks it was common in my experience.
