Guitar with a fast Neck

I said that each fret (meaning all first frets) are all the same size on ALL guitars.

THis is true as you can get. It's a function of physics, people.

The length of the string from the bridge to the nut is identical on all guitars.

And the distance for each fret much be PERFECT otherwise the guitar will NEVER be in tune.

I know this because I am not only knowledgable in physics but I also DESIGN guitars myself.

Ahh. What you mean is the RELATIVE distance between nut and bridge and between frets is identicle for all guiters. True. There are 3/4 size and short/long scale versions that have DIFFERENT lengths in relation to EACH OTHER. The mathmatical relation of distances does not change within EACH SCALE LENGTH. See?

Won't be getting a response either,I see his name is gone off the members list.Goin' out on a limb here but I think his user name was hyperspace last week until he pissed off a bunch of members and deleted his membership.He'll be back under another name.
 
I gotta agree with the earlier post about Fenders generally being harder to get a lot of speed out of compared to others. They're all I play right now and even though speed is not one of either of my strats forte, squeezin,janglin,and flat talkin the notes are. On the other hand, my 65 Jaguar has the fastest and best action of ANY guitar I've ever owned....this number is now close to 100.
My old Ibanez V was mighty quick...my 61 SG Les Paul was too fast...and so it goes.
 
The Gibson SG is from what i've played the fastest. Don't touch the nut, but you can lower the bridge a little and still be safe from buzzing. Lighter guage strings also seem to help. I use Superslinkys.
 
I have an old Yamaha Strat copy and its faster than my Ibanez RG
All the Yamahas Ive had have rippin necks.They are a lot like Tele necks. You just have to put in yur own Pickups cause the stock ones suck.....

Yamaha necks are the shizznit! I once played a Kramer (of all things) that was really fast as well.
 
Doing guitar doodles in your math notebook doesn't actually qualify as designing a guitar, does it?
 
i to like a maple neck and fretboard like the casters, not that gibsons bad but the les paul just does not fit my hand...

i have an rg 550 that rules my collection...
 
Ernie Ball Musicman Axis Supersport. Fastest guitar I ever played, and I've owned a lot of guitars in my time. Incredible value for the money.
 
I guess I have "chubby fingers"- at least thats what my friend said as he stared in awe as I shredded his guitar with my hott lixx. ;) so I don't think your fingers are a major issue.

But seriously- I haven't tried the Ibanez wizard guitars, but I have tried a PRS- Wow. I had speed, precision, and musicality that I never knew I had!

P.S.- I had a hondo bass for a while (I ripped the frets out)- and I'll second that it was DOG slow. Great workout, however! There is something positive to be said for crappy guitars.
 
This is about as subjective as it gets...

I have played Ibanez Wizards, SG's, Paul's, Strat's and Tele's. I like the Ianez necks, and some of the Fernandes necks are slickery, too. Eddie played a Kramer early on, and Vai went through a Jackson/Charvel here and there.

How is it set up? What kind of guitar? Adrian Legg does some pretty fancy stuff on an acoustic, and Maestro Segovia never messed with legtricity...

If it feels good, treat it like a woman. If you touch her the right way, she'll sing and purr. Touch her the wrong way, and you'll regret ever picking her up in the first place.

I've got one collecting dust if anyone wants to buy it. I think its a RG450. It was the same model that became the Satriani endorsed one (or so I was told at the time).

I'd let it go for around $400 w/case +shipping.

Wizard necks are very flat on the back, unlike a fender neck...more rounded back, C shaped if i remember correctly.

All depends on what's comforable to u. I personaly can't stand painted necks like my brothers gibson flying V and the explorer he owned years ago. i stick to them and it slows me down. I end up playing like a turtle on downers. I'm slow enough without the handicap paint job.
 
I collect RGs...compared to my Ernie Ball JPM and Fender Strats...the RG Wiz necks are best for shred...want a cleaner tone and polished sound with a very fast action try the Ernie Ball JPM.
 
Yeah I've been playing for 34 years (beat you acorec) and the Fenders are good for building hand strength but Gibsons, Ibanez, PRS tend to be faster necks. In fact, if you want a real hand challenge, practice on a telecaster. If you get fast on a tele than your that much faster on one of the other brands.

I use to practice on my tele and when I played my Les Paul live it made me play cleaner and faster. Sounds like a soap commercial.

Fast would not be my objective ; tone and knowing scales should be your focus.
 
huge 10-4 to that...what's fast if it sounds mushy.
