I'm currently recording my EP and heard a song the other day that I though would suit one of my songs. It sounds like a resonator or hollow body guitar but I 'm limited to equipment but wondered if there was any way of creating something similar.

This is the song:

Equipment:
Fender Telecaster
Taylor GS Mini
Yamaha APX500 III
Vox AC 30
Røde NT2a
Shure SM57

Thanks,
Joe Connor

Where are you hearing what you think is a resonator or hollow-body..?

I'm just hearing an acoustic guitar...on the bright/jangly side.

Ditto to miro.... I mean that's what she's playing in the clip, as far as I could bear listening, anyway.

Acoustic guitar - a bit bright for my ears. It seems to be an expensive guitar so I'm assuming it was recorded that way deliberately. Not a sound I would aspire to, personally.

+1...that's just an acoustic guitar that's deliberately EQ'd to get to where it is. It's hard to imagine any recording engineer seriously not able to record an acoustic better than that. I'd guess it was scooped out pretty well in the lo mids and upper frequencies...and pumped up in the mids.

It's a decidedly unnatural tone but it mixes very easily with her voice.

I like that clip. It's pub music you can sing along with. :)
